Information about books available in the library can be found in online catalogue ESTER.
You can find a required book or a particular subject area with the help of the Open Stack Guide.
Books are arranged on different floors and shelves according to subject areas.
Every subject area starts with corresponding encyclopedias and lexicons (identifier TE), followed by dictionaries (TS) and other reference books in alphabetical order. All subjects begin with books in Estonian, followed by books in foreign languages. Books in Russian are sorted separately.
Printed specialty journals are managed alphabetically according to the subject of the floor.
Books and journals on the 2nd floor open shelves are divided into following subject fields: philosophy, psychology, sociology, politology, European Union, economy, finance, statistics, organizations and management, accounting, marketing, advertisment, education, law, reference collection.

New Books exhibition: books and journals at the exhibition are changed every Monday.
Books and journals on the 3rd floor open shelves are divided into following subject fields: nature, environment protection, mathematics, astronomy, physics, chemistry, geology, biology, zoology, gene technology, medicine, agriculture.
Coursebooks of all subject fields – coursebooks are only available for borrowing to TalTech students and lecturers.
Books and journals on the 4th floor open shelves are divided into following subject fields: computer science, radiotechnics, electrotechnics, electrical engineering, electronics, technology of metals, metallurgy, mining engineering, civil engineering, transport, home economics, food technology, light industries, textile industries, timber and woodworking industries, polymers, precision mechanics, automatics.
Collection of specific technical documents.
The collection of Paul Kogerman – Paul Nikolai Kogerman’s collection is composed of books that belonged to the professor. The 4th floor library’s shelves hold 11 magazines and 213 foreign books from years 1898 to 2004 for reading.

Books and journals on the 5th floor open shelves are divided into following subject fields: art, architecture, technical drawing, linguistics, sport, cinema, music, theatre, geography, history, literary studies, fiction, librarianship, information science, tourism reference book collection.
Antarctic collection - The donation by Mart Saarso includes items about the Antarctic, the Arctic and their research programmes and expeditions and can only be found in TalTech library. The collection includes books about maritime affairs, marine navigation and research. Half of the 220 items are maps and nautical charts (these can be found in our Map Collection).
The Antarctic collection is for use in the library only.
